Reflux and Surgery
Symptoms of Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GORD) include heartburn, regurgitation and difficulty swallowing. If left untreated, it can lead to more serious problems such as oesophagitis, strictures, and Barrett's oesophagus. Other problems may include vomiting, persistent cough, laryngitis, hoarse voice, chest pain and dental issues. It's important to seek medical attention if you experience persistent reflux symptoms to prevent complications.
Reflux surgery is a procedure that aims to treat GORD. Reflux surgery is usually recommended for patients who do not respond to other treatments.
